We will be passing through the Baldock area at approx. 11am and we will pause at a safe location to observe the Remembrance Day two minute silence.

There is only one café open at the airfield now, The Rosey Lea, which is situated at the furthest end of the airfield internal road.
There is plenty of space inside and out for a large group and also good parking.
The staff were very helpful and attentive and prepared a table for our group to sit together. The menu is varied and excellent quality.

Also attached is a link to Causeway One website which shows all planned road closures and roadworks across UK. I use this to check the planned route and avoid road closures but not necessarily roadworks. It would be helpful if you can review the route and let me know, in advance, if I have missed a road closure.

This week’s ride is subject to an assessment of the weather on Tuesday. I am seeing conflicting weather reports and as usual I prefer the optimistic reporting of Accuweather.
Also attached is an alternative shorter ride to the Blue Egg, Bardfield in case weather is bad.

Pistons & Rings is a themed “petrol head” cafe. Good plentiful parking. The café area is inside a tented area but was nice and warm even though a chilly day. Toilet block also appears temporary but very good facility.
Would be better if all day breakfast was offered as lunch menu although well prepared is a little limited.

Combo restaurant was closed (showing open on website) so we relocated to The Bell, Aston Clinton. Service and food was excellent. There is a good size car park attached to the pub.

Good café. Plenty of seating including a heated, tented extension. Called in advance and table for 20 was ready and waiting for us.
Good range on menu and they even prepared sausage and mash which wasn’t on the menu.
Quick food service for 19 hungry motorcyclists.

Lunch at Hubbles Café which is inside the fishery.
Stop for coffee at Simpson’s Garden Centre, Fordham.
Meet at Silver Ball 09:00 onwards for 09:30 departure.

Return route is via Haverhill. An alternative is via A11 / A14 which saves approx. 25 minutes and is 10 miles less.
