03/06/2025. The Mariners Galley, Rushall

Hi All,

This weeks ride out will be to The Mariners Galley, Rushall.

Meet at Silver Ball, 09:00 onwards for 09:30 departure.

The lunch stop will be at The Mariners Galley, Rushall.

A halfway coffee stop is planned at The Hungry Stag, Woolpit.

A fast return route is shown which takes approx.1hr 20mins but there is an option to deviate at Bury St Edmunds and return via Horringer and Haverhill which adds on a scenic half hour.

Routes as shown on attached map and gpx files. Outbound trip is approx. 85 miles. Return 60 miles using the fast route.

The Hungry Stag is situated just after junction 47a A14 and is a good place for a coffee stop or even a lunch venue. Plenty of parking on gravel.

Nice cross country route after leaving the A143 at Wickham Street, disturbed by road closures on two occasions however both were easily navigated around.

The Mariners Galley has good snack lunches and all day breakfast are available, we sat on the covered outside verandah. Quite windy and the verandah cover was flapping violently.

For more substantial lunch a better option may be the Half Moon pub next door.
